Neighborhood Covenants
Oak Hills has conditions, covenants, and restrictions,  which help keep our neighborhood
aesthetically  pleasing.  The 2004 National Association of Realtors "profiles of home buyers and
sellers" report that the number one factor influencing neighborhood choice is neighborhood
quality.  These guidelines help maintain property values.  Well designed and thoughtful use of
the land allows our homes to coexist with the environment, and not be thrust upon it.  Homes live
in harmony with the rolling hills  that surround us. By enforcing the covenants you'll have the
satisfaction of helping preserve irreplaceable suburban living surrounded by urban sprawl. Our
covenants were written in several pieces called "units".  As the neighborhood was built out, a
new unit would be formed and covenants written. Not all areas of our neighborhood are the
same. These documents were written many years ago and need to be refreshed.  Its a huge
project that the members of the code committee are working on. You can view some of the
covenants here:

Welcome to the Oak Hills Subdivision website.  Oak Hills is one of San Antonio's best kept
secrets in home ownership.  The neighborhood is comprised of over 445 homes in a park like
setting.  Although once considered  "country", homeowners now have convenient access to
shopping, medical facilities, restaurants, parks, hotels, and Oak Hills Country Club.  Oak Hills
is conveniently located close to loop 410 and I-10.  Whether you are a visitor or a resident,
take a tour, and we think you will agree Oak Hills is a great place to call home.
Renters
We invite all renters to attend our meetings and join our association. We welcome your input.
Come meet your neighbors and get involved.  We encourage you to become a homeowner in
the best neighborhood in San Antonio!
Ranch homes Prove Popular
Most of the homes in Oak hills are ranch style architecture.  Today the ranch house or
"mid-century modern" is enjoying a resurgence.  The ranch now has its own magazine,
"Atomic Ranch"
www.atomic-ranch.com    Visit the website and stroll down yesteryear!
The  renewed interest is fed in part by nostalgia for a simpler time but also by the
hard-nosed realism of aging baby boomers.  They like the convenience and efficiency of
one-story living.

City has Master Plan for Neighborhood
The city has a master plan for all neighborhoods including Oak Hills. These plans are helpful in
directing future growth for building new schools, roads, infrastructure, and yes trying to avoid
future traffic headaches. You can view the plan by reading the

San Antonio Feral Cat Coalition Trap, Neuter, Return Program
If you have compassion for abandoned cats, you can help them get spayed or neutered,
vaccinated for rabies and ear-tipped.
Oak Hills has many feral cats roaming our neighborhood.
You can get help by calling neighbor Kay Keane 366.4345. There simply are not enough
homes for all the pets born in this area each year. The only solution is spaying and neutering.
Call the San Antonio the Feral Cat colation 210.877.9067 or visit their
website. The Coalition is
a nonprofit organization dedicated to humanely reducing the feral and stray cat overpopulation
through trap-neuter-return program.

Auto Decals Identify Resident Vehicles
This past year, your Board of Directors approved the purchase of auto decals to more easily
identify resident vehicles. Two decals will be provided free of charge to every paid 2009 OHCA
member. Additional decals may also be purchased for $5.00 each ($10 for non-members). The
reflective decal is 2" x 4" printed in kelly green and features the Oak Hills Tree logo. If you did not
attend the election night, they will be mailed to your current address.

Election Night at La Fonda
The annual election night for Oak Hills was held at La Fonda on Sunday January 31. It was well
attended taking up half the restaurant.  Our guest speaker, Art Villarreal spoke about laying to
rest, the idea of turning our beautiful park into a retention basin.  In attendance were staff from
city councilmen Justin Rodriguez office, and 227th district court Judge candidate Paul Vasquez.
A raffle proved very popular to attendees. New Orleans style prizes and table decorations
created a party mood. Each table had a bottle of wine as a prize. A new slate of officers were
sworn in by Judge Weiner. Guests had time for a Q and A session. A new committee was
formed for animal issues. (see below) Our out going president John Moore was presented with
a service gift for his two terms in office. A big thank you for all the committee members and
officers which served though out the year helping to make our neighborhood great.
The election results for 2010:
