Neighborhood Covenants
Oak Hills has conditions, covenants, and restrictions, which help keep our neighborhood aesthetically pleasing. The 2004 National Association of Realtors "profiles of home buyers and sellers" report that the number one factor influencing neighborhood choice is neighborhood quality. These guidelines help maintain property values. Well designed and thoughtful use of the land allows our homes to coexist with the environment, and not be thrust upon it. Homes live in harmony with the rolling hills that surround us. By enforcing the covenants you'll have the satisfaction of helping preserve irreplaceable suburban living surrounded by urban sprawl. Our covenants were written in several pieces called "units". As the neighborhood was built out, a new unit would be formed and covenants written. Not all areas of our neighborhood are the same. These documents were written many years ago and need to be refreshed. Its a huge project that the members of the code committee are working on. You can view some of the covenants here: Unit Two Unit Three Unit Four

Ranch homes Prove Popular
Most of the homes in Oak hills are ranch style architecture. Today the ranch house or "mid-century modern" is enjoying a resurgence. The ranch now has its own magazine, "Atomic Ranch"www.atomic-ranch.com Visit the website and stroll down yesteryear! The renewed interest is fed in part by nostalgia for a simpler time but also by the hard-nosed realism of aging baby boomers. They like the convenience and efficiency of one-story living. www.lottaliving.com is another excellent source for our style of living. These sources will help find vintage items to complete your restoration projects. The list of links is a great place for ideas and inspiration

If you have compassion for abandoned cats, you can help them get spayed or neutered, vaccinated for rabies and ear-tipped. Oak Hills has many feral cats roaming our neighborhood. You can get help by calling neighbor Kay Keane 366.4345. There simply are not enough homes for all the pets born in this area each year. The only solution is spaying and neutering. Call the San Antonio the Feral Cat colation 210.877.9067 or visit their website. The Coalition is a nonprofit organization dedicated to humanely reducing the feral and stray cat overpopulation through trap-neuter-return program.
